About Dr. Sarah Dunyo Minette

Dr. Sarah Minette, Ed.S., is an experienced music educator whose career spans elementary classrooms, secondary instrumental programs, and university teacher preparation. She has taught music learners from Pre-K through graduate school and has extensive experience working with beginning instrumental students, developing curriculum, and mentoring future music educators.
As a former K-12 Music Content Lead for Minneapolis Public Schools, Assistant Professor of Music Education at California State University-Stanislaus, and Adjunct Professor at University of St. Thomas, Sarah has worked at the intersection of classroom practice, teacher preparation, and curriculum design.
Play the World was born from her desire to give instrumental teachers practical, ready-to-use resources that expand cultural perspectives while remaining accessible to beginning musicians. Each lesson reflects her belief that students can develop musical skills and cultural understanding simultaneously through active music-making and exploration of global song traditions.
In addition to her teaching and leadership experience, Sarah's work has explored culturally responsive teaching, equity in music education, and global music learning. She has presented at local, state, national, and international conferences, sharing strategies that help educators create learning environments where all students can see themselves and others reflected in the music they study.
Through Play the World, Sarah seeks to help music educators move beyond traditional method book approaches by providing engaging, culturally responsive resources that connect students to both their instruments and the wider world.
Sarah resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota with her husband and their two cats, LouLou and Winston. If you would like to have Sarah come work with you or your students you can book a time with her below.
